Comics: Anticipated titles of the week (03/06/09)

Here are my picks of the titles out this week;

Pick of this week has to be The Boys #31, which starts the new ‘Self Preservation Society’ arc, with the Supes turning the tables on the Boys, with art by legendary Judge Dredd artist Carlos Ezquerra. Very excited about that one.

Elsewhere, the soon-to-finish Captain Britain & MI13 gets its one and only Annual, a continuation of ‘Vampire State’. Can Meggan (Captain Britains Ex-wife), get back from Hell to help turn back the Vampiric hordes and save Britain? Sad to see this one ending soon, but enjoy it while you can, as ‘Vampire State’ is a modern comic book classic, and this iteration of Captain Britain has been a total success, showing that a UK based strip can work in in the Marvel Universe. Until it gets cancelled due to poor sales anyway…

Chew debuts with issue #1, described as;
“Tony Chu is a cop with a secret. A weird secret. Tony Chu is Cibopathic, which means he gets psychic impressions from whatever he eats. It also means he’s a hell of a detective, as long as he doesn’t mind nibbling on the corpse of a murder victim to figure out whodunit, and why. It’s a dirty job, and Tony has to eat terrible things in the name of justice. And if that wasn’t bad enough, the government has figured out Tony Chu’s secret. They have plans for him… whether he likes it or not.

Presenting a twisted new series about cops, crooks, cooks, cannibals and clairvoyants, written by JOHN LAYMAN (Marvel Zombies vs. Army of Darkness, House of M: Fantastic Four and PUFFED) with mind-blowing art by astonishing comics newcomer ROB GUILLORY.”

Finally, Deadpool: Suicide Kings #3 continues with Spiderman, Punisher and Daredevil all in the mix. Entertaining, bright, humorous and throwaway – perfect comic book material!
